This fun little mix of Latin funk and impressionism was inspired by memories of my sisters and I spending weekends with my grandmother in Miami Springs when we were little. Specifically, these are images of us sneaking around her house in the middle of the night because we just could not sleep.
Thus, ¡Sió! is a work that feels like it *should* get louder, but very much *won't* get louder, while still remaining playful. See, the phrase "sió" (short for "silencio") is normally shouted- usually by Cuban grandmothers like mine- as another way to tell everyone in the room to "shut the fuck up," as it literally translates to.
