for String Quartet. Dedicated to the friends I've made when I first moved to New York who moved away shortly after we met. Complete with an attempt at utilizing quarter tones in a tonal melodic setting (to portray the confusion and edgy kind of emotions regarding these relationships). Ultimately, the music turned out to be an optimistic meditation, despite the nature of the emotions I felt when I started its initial sketches. Therefore, after sketching and as I moved on in the compositional process, I came up with the title. The title is a play on the "concrete jungle" nickname for the city, and is a metaphor for how people move here to leave their marks on the city- or anywhere in the world- before moving on to some place else.
